Inexpensive destination wedding gift bag ideas?
I have a lot of guests traveling pretty far to come to my wedding, so I know it is the proper thing to leave a gift bag or basket in each guest room for them. However, as weddings do, mine has gotten very expensive, very fast. Does anyone have any tasteful, yet inexpensive ideas for a welcome baskets for faithful, traveling guests? I went to a wedding that gave candy bars and snack foods, but I don’t want my guests to think that I want them to pack on the pounds on their trip. I also am going to be in the White Mountains, so something with a New England feel would be nice too. Thoughts?
You can go to the dollar store and get some cheap baskets/bags. Depending on when you go they actually have a big selection.
As for the gift bags themself – you should add maps, directions, maybe get some coupons for restaurants, local phone numbers, etc.
As far as food goes – what time of year will it be? If it is in the mountains I am guessing it will probably be cold; so I would put stuff in there like tea’s with honey, hot chocolate, dried fruit and nuts, bottled water – adding some snack foods would be a good idea. I don’t think that your guests will feel that you are trying to help them pack on the pounds; but buying little snacks out of the vending machine or at the hotel can get very expensive – so it’s nice to give them a few things to munch on. It doesn’t have to be much.
Good luck!
